Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (UMCS) respects the right of users to protect their privacy and personal data. It introduces appropriate safeguards and complies with applicable legal regulations, in particular Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation, hereinafter referred to as GDPR).

Using the service may involve collecting personal data of its users, for the purpose and to the extent necessary to administer the service and maintain its functionality.
The vast majority of content and services made available through the service are available without the need to register and provide personal data. However, some services, such as registration for events, require their collection.
We also inform you that the Administrator of your personal data collected via the website is Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, with its registered office at pl. Maria Curie-Skłodowskiej 5, 20‑031 Lublin (hereinafter referred to as UMCS or Administrator).

COLLECTION OF PERSONAL DATA
The website may process your personal data using forms that allow, for example, registration for events organized by UMCS or its organizational units and contact forms. In each case, when we collect your personal data, we will inform you in detail about the purpose and conditions of their processing by us.
The personal data of the service users are protected against unlawful disclosure to unauthorized persons, unauthorized access, removal, damage, modification or accidental destruction or loss.
RIGHTS OF THE PERSON WHOM THE DATA SUBJECTS
Providing personal data is always voluntary, and users have the right to view them, change them, correct them, delete them, transfer them, file a request to stop or limit processing, the right to transfer data and the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority monitoring compliance with the law on personal data protection. In addition, if personal data is processed on the basis of consent, users have the right to withdraw the consent on the basis of which their personal data is used by the service at any time, and the withdrawal of consent does not affect the processing of data that was carried out before the withdrawal of this consent.
DATA PROCESSING PERIOD
Personal data that the user has provided to the Administrator via the service are used for as long as necessary. This means that UMCS uses the personal data of service users until the purpose for which the data was collected is achieved, and after that time for archival or statistical purposes or until the expiry of claims related to the service that required the user to provide their data. We will always inform you for how long and for what purposes your personal data will be processed by UMCS.
CONSEQUENCES OF NOT PROVIDING DATA
Failure to provide data, submitting a request to delete it or ceasing further processing may in these cases result in the limitation or lack of availability of some services.
DATA RECIPIENTS
At the same time, UMCS would like to assure you that, unless expressly indicated in the regulations of the service used by the user, the personal data of users are not transferred to any other entities, except for entities authorized to access such data under the law. The personal data of users will also not be transferred to third countries or international organizations, unless the regulations of the service expressly provide otherwise.
“Cookies” Files
WHAT ARE “COOKIES” FILES?
The website uses the so-called “cookies” technology. Cookies are small text files that are sent by the website and then saved on computers, laptops or smartphones, in order to, among other things, facilitate the use of websites. These files may contain personal data in the form of the IP address of the device used by the user when using the website and the unique identifier of this device. These files are not stored on the administrator’s servers, and the essence of their operation is to save their content during the visit to the website on the device used to use the website.

USE OF “COOKIES” FILES BY THE SERVICE
Cookies are used by UMCS primarily for the purpose of: ensuring the correct functioning of the service, maintaining the session in the case of logged-in users (no need to log in on each subpage of the service), preserving user settings related to the display of the service, collecting statistical data and information on how the service is used, enabling the delivery of advertising content consistent with the interests of users.
Cookies may also be used for advertising purposes by advertising providers and UMCS partners.
The service does not use cookies to identify, track or collect personal data. The Administrator does not combine operational data and information contained in cookies with any other data that it comes into possession of or may have access to.
The legal basis for collecting data read from cookies is art. 6 sec. 1 letter (f) GDPR, understood as the implementation of the legitimate interest of the data administrator in the form of maintaining the functionality of the website and adapting the website to the individual user settings, as well as remembering data entered by the user related to the use of the website and conducting statistical analyses regarding users and visitors to the website.
RIGHTS OF THE PERSON WHOM THEY SUBJECT
The user may access the collected cookies located on the disk or in the memory of the device used to use the website by analyzing the content of cookies in the browser settings.
